Surprise Lake Camp is located 178km West of Edmonton (21km East of Edson) along the Yellowhead Highway (HWY 16) and is 2km South of the Highway on Range.Road. 153. 

Travel time from Edmonton: approximately  2 hours.

Travel time from Edson: approximately 15 minutes. 

If coming to camp by bus, please notify the camp director of your arrival time. Someone will be at the station in Edson to pick you up.

 

Travelling From the North

From Grand Prairie: head East on Highway 43 until you reach Highway 32.  Follow Whitecourt instructions from here.

From Whitecourt and further: head south along Highway 32, until you reach Highway 16.  Turn right (West) and travel another 10 km or so until you see the blue rest stop signs on Range Road 153.  Turn left (South).

From Slave Lake and Swan Hills: head south on Highway 33 (West from Slave Lake on Highway 2 out of town) until you meet Highway 32.  Follow Whitecourt directions from here.

From Grande Cache: head south on Highway 40 toward Highway 16, head East (turn left) until you pass through Edson.  Travel for 21 km until you pass the rest stop on Range Road 153.  Head South on 153.

From Fort McMurray: head toward Edmonton until you reach Highway 16, follow the map below from Edmonton.

From Westlock, Barrhead, Athabasca areas: either head South until you reach Highway 16, and then head West, or make your way to Whitecourt, and follow the Whitecourt directions from there.

 

Travelling From the South

If you are East of Highway 2, head North to Edmonton (via QE2) and take the Anthony Henday ring road to Highway 16.  Then follow the map below from Edmonton.

If you are West of Highway 2, head for either Highway 2 or Highway 22.  Head North toward Highway 16, then head West toward Edson.  Turn left (South) at the Rest Stop on Range Road 153.

 

Pickup/Drop-off Times

Drop-off Time: Please arrive on the first day of camp between 2-5 pm.

Pickup Time: Please pick up children on the last day of camp between 5-7 pm.
