Fact: Volunteers are a crucial element to a wonderful summer.
It's True: Volunteers come in all shapes and sizes and hold a great variety of talents. Some volunteers are young, still camper age, simply excited to help out whenever and where-ever they may be of use. Some are parents who want to attend camp with their children, ending up in the kitchen preparing snacks and meals or perhaps chopping fire wood with our CITs and other heavy duty tasks. Some are camp alumni who cannot stay away from the camp years after they have attended and been on staff.
Therefore: Volunteers are always welcome and appreciated - especially YOU!
Fun Fact: The Surprise Lake Camp motto, "For the Campers - By the Campers", comes from the fact that the camp has been built and maintained by the very campers who attended it over the years. Show your love, care, and appreciation for Surprise Lake Camp and help us out as a volunteer! We want to see your "finger-prints" on SLC!

ALL volunteers planning on helping out during a camp session MUST attend a MINIMUM of 2 days training prior to your desired time at camp. This training may be arranged in advance with the Camp Manager, most likely to be combined with staff training at the beginning of the summer. In addition, any persons (including visitors) planning on interacting with campers in any way MUST submit a current (within 6 months) Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search included.
For more information on how to volunteer and requesting dates, contact the Camp Manager before June 1st to coordinate training and volunteer opportunities.
In addition to the positions listed above, there is another volunteer opportunity concerning our new Biffy project. If you visited the camp in 2012, you may have noticed a group of grey portable toilets. We are unable to use our current outhouses (due to health inspector report) and are using those toilets as a temporary solution while we look for a more permanent one. Any help which you can give us (be it ideas, donations, or volunteer work) is more than welcome!
We are seeking passionate individuals with vision and a desire to help to "keep camp alive, 365".
Collect your Campbell's labels from all kinds of Campbell's products and send them to SLC! We redeem labels for merchandise that goes directly to camp. This year we are aiming for musical instruments...only 35 000 points to go!
